Opening Sequences
Friends
Music- The music chosen was fun and up beat which reflects the show. The lyrics encapsulates the narrative of the characters and how they help each other when things go wrong. The song also goes well with the title opening as it is upbeat and a happy song and the opening scenes are of the characters having fun dancing in a water fountain.
Graphics- The graphics are of a scruffy font which looks hand written with colorful dots in between each letter. This could show the informal and unstructured way the characters are and the way the show is put together.
Camera- The title of the show is shown before the characters, this establishes the theme of the show and what the characters mean to each other. They one by one appear on the sofa to introduce the audience who they are then as series of jump cuts are made of the characters talking, laughing and acting the way they would usually together on the sofa as the sofa is used in the show. This shows how they work cohesively as group and establishes that they are one friend group. Then it shows them all dancing in front of the fountain, this further emphasizes their level of friendship. The camera is at eye level with the characters and focuses on the upper half of their body so the audience feels like they are part of the scene. The camera cuts to lots of scenes of the characters dancing which makes the scene seem energetic and quick pace. The opening scene then focuses on characters individually by putting their names on the scene in the same font as the opening show title font but in lower caps this shows how the characters behave individually which gives an insight to what they are like in the actual show. Mise en scene is used to show that the show was set in the 90's.

Game of thrones
Music: The music of game of thrones is medieval inspired and instrumental this suites the time period it was set as it was set in the past but in a mythical place. It has regal but brutal tone to it which reflects how the show is about royal people competing to rule the 7 kingdoms.Graphics: The graphics of the opening sequence has a medieval inspired font which resembles handwriting. Font in gold show how all of the characters and places it marks are important and powerful.
Camera: First a sword or an emblem is shown being crafted which has dragons on it which shows the mythical side of the show, maybe it represents the fight between mythical creatures and humans. Then a map is shown which seems hand painted, maps like these are used in the show, the characters use it to plot their attacks. On the maps buildings of the seven kingdoms are shown but they are like contraptions that people would have built in the medieval times as they are made of metal and have cogs on them. They also have spikes on them which resembles war and how defensive each house id of their castles and their positions in the show. The camera glides towards through the map and zooms in where the place is important, the camera glides as if it was one of the dragons in the show. The maps gives the audience an insight of where places are (whether they are near or close to each other so if an attack happens they understand why they may be sailing a ship there). The emblem is shown again towards the end of the title sequence and is formed into the game of thrones title. The title having woodwork and metal on it could show how man made objects and nature collide or work together.
