Media Language and Representation: Example Question (The Big Issue). Big issue essay Question: How does intertextuality create meaning in this source.  They have put politicians heads onto the bodies on the members of Abbas body, by doing this they are mocking these people who are important figures in the EU referendum. They purposely put pictures of them with their mouths open so it looks like they are singing. heir heads being larger than the bodies show how they are the main focus of the magazine and not Abba also it makes it humorous and adds to the comical tone of the front cover. The intertextuality in the headline of the magazine the title " the winner takes it all" is referencing an ABBA song, this links into the situation ans one pf the four figures in the front page will win, the big issue is portraying the situation this is that the audience wouldn't understand the pun which is an Abba song or who the faces bodies are.  Abba is a well known group ...

Big issue covers analysis  To reflect the eccentricity of David Bowie they have used a white background so that the colours of the face paint on his face stand out also they have made his eyes a different colour to make him look like an alien. They have done an exact front photograph of his face and shoulders which makes him look like he is looking directly at the reader. He has his signature hair and makeup so that he is easily recognizable. They have used a very white light to highlight his pale skin and to emphasize the vividness of his face paint. They have used an animated green font for his name which he uses for most other things and to match the font of his name they have used the same green as the colour of the big issue font. Bellow the David Bowie typography they have a statement about what he represents in pop culture which is the strap lines. They have done this in black with a more structured font, the black makes it stand out and draws attention to ...

Who we are- Story board 1)We have used non digetic sound such as music to help add to the overall tense and sad tone of the sequence. We have cut from one shot to another this is an abrupt transition and is commonly used in tv show sequence. For mise en scene we have used black and white, this creates a tense sad atmosphere and puts  emphasis on the characters.lack and white has the crf old movies but we decided to use an intense black with a silvery white which puts a modern spin on it as we decided to make the tv show take place in the present. The black background creates an abyss and shows how the scenes are not like real life but may be like a limbo or a visual representation of what is going on  in the characters mind. Close ups are used in the sequence to intensify the shots and to create a range of different angles. 2) The genre of tv drama is drama this is made clear as it focuses on the characters of the show which is what other tv dram sequences do. 3) ...
News:  Analysing the language of newspapers. Daily mail Hurricane Nate weakened to a tropical depression on Sunday after coming ashore in Mississippi as the fourth hurricane to hit the United States this year. The storm flooded roads and buildings but sparing the state from catastrophic damages. As the storm moved northeast into Alabama, Nate's maximum sustained winds dropped to 35mph, prompting the National Hurricane Center to end its tropical storm warnings for the region. Mississippians, particularly in the Gulf Coast area where the storm made its second landfall, are beginning to recover from the storm, photographs show.  The storm made landfall in Mississippi last night as a Category 1 hurricane, the weakest designation by the center.  Only a few hours earlier , its winds had been blowing at 70 mph but appeared to lack the devastating punch of its recent predecessors. Guardian Hurricane Nate brought a burst of flooding and power outages ...

News: An Evolving Media Product The Daily Mail have a large Headline which is there main story and a large picture to go with it but as you scroll down there are more subheadings with only one paragraph which is used to draw the reader in. The many catchy headlines and subheadings make the reader want to keep scrolling. The news is free and easily accessible if you have wifi. They report many negative things about deaths, celebrity's and influential people which is what their audience would want to read about as its lower class to lower middle class news. They write some of the same stories but write about them in different ways for examples the guardian is more factual and the daily mail is more over exaggerated. I think online news attracts a younger generation as they have grown up with technology and reading on the internet whereas print attracts the older generation which has gotten used to reading off print and would not want to or know how to get it through the internet. ...
