How far has genre influenced the media language used in Sources A and B? Genres and conventions of British newspapers. The two genres of newspapers each these two newspapers show is tabloid and broadsheet. The newspaper on the left is a tabloid, the conventions of a tabloid newspaper is dumbing down this is where they simplify the information for it to reach a wider audience, this is shown in the title as it uses a simple rhetorical question which sounds as if it could be used colloquially. This means that this news paper is low brow because they have a lower intellectual content which means that their readers need lower intellect to appreciate the news, compared to a quality press like a broadsheet it is seen as low brow. Tabloids are half the size of broadsheets which means that a tabloid would include less information than a broadsheet. They are seen as emotional participants, this is because of tabloidisation as tabloids normally sensationaliz...

Me dia Language and Representation: Unseen Advertisement Amnesty international has used a drawing that has been drawn by using a computer which creates a more clean cut image where as the shelter have used pictures of peoples faces with messages written over it and a response to the message bellow which creates a more multi layered poster.  The amnesty poster has red hands which are creating peace sign and also they are representing scissors cutting a barbed wire, this could show that they are trying to help people through peaceful means. The hands instead of scissors show how they are peaceful and do not believe in using weapons to create peace, this conveys that this is a humanitarian charity. They use red on the hand and the international which conveys how they want people from allover the world to come together to help them. The barb fence could be a symbol for multiple things like people being held against their will or people living in rough areas b...

Burn the witch and un-finished symphony comparison. Unfinished symphony used their video to represent street life to raise awareness of what a lower class neighborhood in los angles looked like uninterrupted where as Burn the Witch uses characters from a popular children's television show to show part of the narrative from the movie the wicker man which is intertextuality, the two story lines of the children television show and the wicker man juxtaposes ecahother. Burn the witch shows the characters from the popular television show to reveal a picturesque town which through out the video slowly shows how they are more and more psychotic because at the start of the video the towns people seemed normal and doing chores that an olden day town would do like mowing a lawn but the their were clues as the video went on such as a calf in a a pie.  It had intertextuality which means that the audience wouldn't understand it unless they had seen the wicker man and th...

Media Language and Representation: Lucozade & Shelter Lucozade They have used blue as a background as it is a masculine color which is normally associated with men. They have a gradient which goes from blue to a light blue. The light blue has a halo effect around the guy in the picture which points him out to the audience. The gradient around him makes him seem like he is radiant and admitting light and also makes him seem like he has a halo around him which conveys to the audience of his importance.  The yellow color stands out from the blue background especially because it doesn't have the gradient and is a bold color also is the color of the sun and the sun gives people energy which works for a lucozade advert because lucozade is an energy drink. Blue and yellow are  the colors of lucozade which subliminally  sends the message to the audience that it is a lucozade advert without explicitly saying it. The blue also represent hydratio...

The Paradise Papers story coverage 1) The language between the daily mail and the guardian  is that the guardian has used the word controversial which means its edging social norms. Then they say exploiting the reader then thinks that the queen is taking advantage of the people in the country. The daily mail use words such as dragged which victimizes the queen and emphasizes that she is innocent . The also mention that it is offshore which makes the reader think that it does not concern their country as much as it does, this differs the guardian because they used to the term exploiting which makes the reader feel as if they are more directly affected than the daily mail. They accuse the queen of exploiting the poor as the monarch of the country she should be doing the opposite so they are suggesting she doesn't care about the people of Britain. The guardian have a socialist ideology even though they are pro capitalist they challenge this view, the ...
Media Language and Representation: Old Spice 1) The advertisement is either aimed towards females to buy men their products or men because it is a males product. In some of their adverts they address the females in their audience and tell them if they buy the product the person will become manlier and smell better, they draw the attentions of females by using attractive males  in the latest old spice advert (where the man is on a horse). He addresses the female audience then makes them compare him to the male in the room, this could belittle the male in the room and make him feel as if he needs to buy their products to become more attractive. With the adverts which are geared towards males they entice them by stating that if they wear their aftershave they will become more attractive, they also persuade them of this by using attractive males which me would want to be like for example the advert where the person is surfing because he is athletic. 2) They contribute to engagi...

I would categories their music as art rock, alternative rock, progressive rock, electronica, progressive  rock and electronica. They are represented as alternative as their photos are not the usual pop culture photos, they are mostly stood expressionless, all their photos are simialr to push an their image. Other images are of them on stage. They do not advertise themselves on social media as throughout time they have replace all their photos and everything on their website to white. A moon shaped pool was the ninth album they released. it has the song burn the witch and promote the album by releasing it two weeks before. It had a positive response as it had been put on many album of the year lists. It had also been nominated for their fifth mercury award.
Ownership and regulation 13 companies own national titles these companies/ people are Lord Rothmere and 5 companies own mor ethan one. When the companies own mor ethan one title the titles usually link together so they have a word which is in all of them. For example Rupert murdoch owns four titles and they all either have at leat one of the following words: sunday, times and the, another example is freddy and barcalys newspaper are called the telegraph and sunday telegraph through the titles having the wort telegraph it shows that they are related. Trinity mirror owns the liecester mercury which is a regional newspaper but they also own three other newspaper titles. The regional newspaper title doesnt sound like the trinitys other newspaper titles as they all have the word sunday or mirror in them. They may use this to make the regional newspaper have a more community feel to it than an ofshoot of a large newspaper. Rupert murdoch  also owns media outlets such as sky aa...
Mise en scene of Massive attack - unfinished symphony music video. Camera shots They use a singular video with no cuts which shows what street life is with no cuts which is a single tale to show what street life is without the people picking and choosing what goes into the video so it makes it more realistic. When she crosses the road the camera turns so they can face the side of her head she is still in her mid shot so you could see what was in the street which was a wide road with guys with large beards leaning on a motorbike. Then when the song is about to end the camera curves so you can see the back of her head and the street in front of her They use a long shot so you can see her walking away, this is so you can see what she sees and is a smooth way to end the video because as the music fades away she walks away and the camera slows down following her so she walks away into the different and becomes part of the street life as she goes off to go somewhere. She looks u...
