Mise en scene of Massive attack - unfinished symphony music video.
Camera shots
They use a singular video with no cuts which shows what street life is with no cuts which is a single tale to show what street life is without the people picking and choosing what goes into the video so it makes it more realistic. When she crosses the road the camera turns so they can face the side of her head she is still in her mid shot so you could see what was in the street which was a wide road with guys with large beards leaning on a motorbike. Then when the song is about to end the camera curves so you can see the back of her head and the street in front of her They use a long shot so you can see her walking away, this is so you can see what she sees and is a smooth way to end the video because as the music fades away she walks away and the camera slows down following her so she walks away into the different and becomes part of the street life as she goes off to go somewhere.
She looks unfazed by what is going on around her like she has seen it before or she is used to it. People walked past her and children through things in front of her and moved furniture so it makes them seem unfazed by who she is and what shes doing and represents what people would ofif she wasn't their. Also it makes her seem like a local and not someone famous as they do not stop and stare.
Extras
The streets have shops which are non branded and seem to be owned by the people their as they are not large branded shops with decorative window displays. There is graffiti on the shop walls to show how. She is wearing an all black outfit which seems like a casual outfit. The other people around her are wearing everyday clothes such as the farther and son and the bearded men who are wearing jeans with biker jackets and vests making them look like they are part of a group and they pop up through out the video like them leaning on motorbikes. They are also at the very start of the video and the director used them as an establishing shot to show the audience that they are in an a lower class area where gangs are involved which means that there is violence. The group walk in closer to the camera as the camera zooms out on them to make it seem like they are moving in on the viewer, this used to make the viewer feel intimidated by them, also the group looks at the camera as if they are looking at the viewer like they do not come from their neighborhood. At the start of the video it zooms in on black gloves with two steel balls and the it zooms out to see a dog with sunglasses, The dog is pulling away from the lead and is a breed of dog which is associated with violence.
The other extras are people sitting on a bench and a disabled man on a skateboard which shows the lack of support that the people in this area get from the government, also it shows that the people in this area are not rich as e does not have a wheel chair or a career.
They use natural lighting because they want it to seem realistic and unlike other staged music videos.
