Who we are- Story board







1)We have used non digetic sound such as music to help add to the overall tense and sad tone of the sequence. We have cut from one shot to another this is an abrupt transition and is commonly used in tv show sequence. For mise en scene we have used black and white, this creates a tense sad atmosphere and puts  emphasis on the characters.lack and white has the crf old movies but we decided to use an intense black with a silvery white which puts a modern spin on it as we decided to make the tv show take place in the present. The black background creates an abyss and shows how the scenes are not like real life but may be like a limbo or a visual representation of what is going on  in the characters mind. Close ups are used in the sequence to intensify the shots and to create a range of different angles.

2) The genre of tv drama is drama this is made clear as it focuses on the characters of the show which is what other tv dram sequences do.

3) Our title shows in the end of our sequence this is to draw the reader in through the video and to create intrigue so they have to wait till the end to find out what the show is called. The title sequence is at first going to glow like lights but then get brighter like hot silver  and the silver will melt off the screen.

5) Our tv drama would appeal to people who enjoy drams such as suits and dr fostor as they both follow the story lines of peoples lives.

6) We were originally going to make it a murder mystery such as riverdale as they are a murder mystery but also follow the characters life story but we changed it to be a drama and referred to tv shows such as greys anatomy and suites. We decided upon this as the story line would be too crowded and the tv show sequence didn't show any reference to anyone being murdered or a potential murderer.

I think the strengths of our tv show sequence was that it showed the characters in a vulnerable state which conveyed that it is a tv drama also that it would create a bond between the audience and the characters. It also shows the main characters of the show. I think the weaknesses of our tv show sequence is that it dost convey the narrative or the different characteristics and traits of the characters which may lead the audience to wonder what the tv show is about, even though this is a weakness tv show sequences such as stranger things and game of thrones  reveal the full narrative or the characters but give a general tone of the television show. Another weakness is that our tv show didn't specify the setting which is London or the era clearly. But we did reference a modern music video which was released this year but may not be popular enough for everyone to understand the referance.

Analysis of mad men. The scene starts with a birds eye shot of the street, they use digetic sound through sound of the cars and they use mise en scene through the old cars, this is to establish that the office is in New York. Then the camera cuts to a shot of them entering an elevator there is fast pate instrumental non digetic music  from the era to emphasize the fast paste of the business world. They use digetic sound as when they reach the floor the elevator bings. They us mise en scene as the men are all wearing suits and the one women is wearing clothes from the era. The camera is focused on there faces to show how nervous and uncomfortable the women feels the goes the mens point of view to show that they are looking at her body, this highlights how objectifying men were in that era. .Once they reach the top of the floor the camera follows the men there is  digetic sounds of typing and mumbling to recreate the sounds which would normally be at an office. Burn the witch and un-finished symphony comparison. Unfinished symphony used their video to represent street life to raise awareness of what a lower class neighborhood in los angles looked like uninterrupted where as Burn the Witch uses characters from a popular children's television show to show part of the narrative from the movie the wicker man which is intertextuality, the two story lines of the children television show and the wicker man juxtaposes ecahother.
