Analysis of mad men.
The scene starts with a birds eye shot of the street, they use digetic sound through sound of the cars and they use mise en scene through the old cars, this is to establish that the office is in New York. Then the camera cuts to a shot of them entering an elevator there is fast pate instrumental non digetic music from the era to emphasize the fast paste of the business world. They use digetic sound as when they reach the floor the elevator bings. They us mise en scene as the men are all wearing suits and the one women is wearing clothes from the era. The camera is focused on there faces to show how nervous and uncomfortable the women feels the goes the mens point of view to show that they are looking at her body, this highlights how objectifying men were in that era.
.Once they reach the top of the floor the camera follows the men there is digetic sounds of typing and mumbling to recreate the sounds which would normally be at an office. The camera following the men this could emphasize how it was a patriarchal society and how men were thought as more important than women. The camera shows them dismissing the women and shows how this is a mundane thing to them as the camera glides past the women. They do a shot reverse shot to show how the men are reacting in the conversation.
Then the scene moves back to the women and uses a tracking shot to highlight how busy the office is. Mise en scene is used through props as the office uses old fashioned furniture and props as they use typewriters and phones which have cords.in to show the ambient sound of an office through the use synochronus sound such as typing. The camera uses point of view shot to show how the women react to the conversation between them. They use mise en scene with the the women as the ginger women is wearing a tight dress and she has been working there for longer this could signify that to get by in the business world you need to little clothing which accentuates their body in the scene the new women isn't doing that.
