Dance Music


1) These are all dance music videos as they have an electronic beats and they have dance performance in it. 

2) All three of the videos use the same narratives, they all used dance as a medium of expression it. The narratives of all three videos portray how dance can bring people together, through them being having fun for example in sweet lovin by sigala the actor has red mist coming from her roller skates and when they past people the red mist causes them to dance, before they start dancing the characters looked sullen with slugish movements after they seem happy and they dance vibrantly. In the Mk17 video is is a friendship group who comes together by dancing, for example at the start they have a large family gathering, all the members of the family come together through dance. In the cola video its a group of friends dancing around an old house.

They use mise en scene as they all of the actors where the same type of group to make them seem like a collective. In the sweet lovin video they wear vibrant clothes which juxtapose the neighborhood the skate around. In the cola video they where sporty clothes which oppose the old house that they dance around. This makes the group that dances in the video seem out of place due to their surrounding (except the mk 17 video), this emphasis their vibrancy and energy which the musician would want their audience to feel .

Analysis of mad men. The scene starts with a birds eye shot of the street, they use digetic sound through sound of the cars and they use mise en scene through the old cars, this is to establish that the office is in New York. Then the camera cuts to a shot of them entering an elevator there is fast pate instrumental non digetic music  from the era to emphasize the fast paste of the business world. They use digetic sound as when they reach the floor the elevator bings. They us mise en scene as the men are all wearing suits and the one women is wearing clothes from the era. The camera is focused on there faces to show how nervous and uncomfortable the women feels the goes the mens point of view to show that they are looking at her body, this highlights how objectifying men were in that era. .Once they reach the top of the floor the camera follows the men there is  digetic sounds of typing and mumbling to recreate the sounds which would normally be at an office. Burn the witch and un-finished symphony comparison. Unfinished symphony used their video to represent street life to raise awareness of what a lower class neighborhood in los angles looked like uninterrupted where as Burn the Witch uses characters from a popular children's television show to show part of the narrative from the movie the wicker man which is intertextuality, the two story lines of the children television show and the wicker man juxtaposes ecahother.
