Burn the which analysis

Camera:

  • There is an establishing shot which establishes that it is a small village and they are having a town meeting.
  • Then there is a wide shot with a sign that says speared boar which is the name of the pub, this is a hint as it foreshadows the an actual speared boar.
  • The figure paint the doors with red crosses which they used to do if their was a witch in the house, this links to the title of the song.
  • There is a close u shot of a pole with flowers which the towns people are decorating, then the camera zooms out and it is a noose, the camera the close ups which the inspector from the city looks shocked.

Sound:

  • Non digetic sound is the tweeting of the bird at the start.
  • The music has a sound that sound like mowing which starts when they show a towns person mowing.
  • Also when there is a string quartet the sound of instruments starts

  • Digetic sound is the screeching of the violin which is an ominous sound at the start of the video when the person gets driven to the village.
  • The song ( so the people singing)
  • The violin then starts being strung rapidly when the inspectors face seems shocked
  • The voice of the singer raises and the crushendo rises when they reveal the wooden sculpture.
  • Two string instruments start playing against each other which makes a jarring noise when the sculpture is being burnt.
  • Then their is an ambient tweeting noise against the crackling of the fire when the bird is shown.

Mise en scene

  • there is jobes written on the tomato crates which has religious connotations and xxx on the bottles of alcohol which juxtaposes the religiousness of the town.
  • there is shock on the inspectors face when jobe has the kindling
  • At the start the town seems idylic.
  • it has a cyclical structure as it starts and ends with the bird tweeting on the tree.
