History of dance music

Disco: 

It emerged in the late 1970's, the audience was originally club goers at it was played at disco's. It came through a reaction of rock music it was most popular between 1970 - 1980. From traditional African music jazz came from it then swing then disco. 

House:

It was a mix of disco music and euro-disco, which makes it a descendant of disco it was originally played in Chicago warehouses. House is in the genre of electronic dance music, they use repetitive mechanical 4/4 beats. It was pioneered by DJ Frankie Knuckles, it was popular in the us and then some of the independent labels made it in the UK


Techno:

Techno music is a form of electronic dance music, it began in 1988. It was a blend of African american music and electric jazz with electronic music. The tempo varies between 120- 150 beats per minute and uses music production technology to produce its electric sound.Detroit techno is seen as the foundation of techno. It has futuristic themes which reflected late capitalist america.




EDM:

 Edm stems from disco music, techno music, house music, and trance music. It was popular as it was played in nightclubs, warehouses, and the early rave scene of the acid house movement all in the late 1980's. In the mid-1980s and early 1990s, disco’s popularity declined, but electronic  was the new popular dance music.
