statement of intent
Product 1 music video
I will start off my music video with pans and close ups of a derelict building, I have decided not to have an establishing shot to create mystery. I introduced the main character by slowly revealing aspects of her such as her shoes then a close up of her face. Her sole expression will portray the hardships she endures through her socioeconomic status. I decided to have her sit in a chair in the midst of the clutter to create surreal symbolism that many music videos have as they do not directly reflect life but emphasise certain aspects of it. To give the audience the glossy experience that dance music promises I will intertwined friendship within the narrative. When the main character receives a text she attains a cheerful facial expression to emphasises her content she runs out of her the building to emphasise how happy she is to escape house . Once she leaves the house there is a dramatic change of setting in where she is laughing with her friend, the camera style switches from a rigid third person perspective which emphasises the solemn tone of her situation to a shaky hand held style which connotes a good time. A typical shot that music videos have is the character looking sad out of the window which I will try to replicate in my music video. There will be a scene in where she will be in a cafe with her friend, the mine en scene being sunny day will juxtapose the grey building at the start of the video. I will try and emulate the atmosphere of a night club by using dark lighting, shaky camera work and fast pace editing. In the midst of the club scene the main character is caught looking sad and overwhelmed because it is nearing the time in which she will have to leave and go back to the reality of where she lives. The narrative returns to the serous tone when camera returns t its rigid third person point of view, the editing tips between the two characters, the main character not knowing that they are being followed creates suspense. When the friend follows the main character back to her house I have edited it so it switches between the two characters. I have created a cyclical structure at the end of the video by returning to the original settings and rigid third person camera view point this creates suspense which builds to the ending where the friend founds out about the main characters living conditions, this ending connotes that she will help her friend. To recreate the serious tone at the start of the video serious tone it once.
Product 2
The name of my music dance artist is loud an quiet, loud symbolises the overall loud enjoyment of dance music and quiet portrays the underlying message within the products that artist creates. I decided to make the colour of my font red and white, the red is to highlight the words loud and quiet to stand out against the dark pictures which will be the background of my website. I have decided to have a font for my logo as it is simple and clean, instead of bright and loud to subvert my artist from the cliche to set them apart. The images of the website is polaroids which will appear to be candids, through using this as my imagery it makes the pictures seem as though they were taken by chance and that the actors were actually having a good time instead of them being forced to in a studio. Th music video of my dance artist will apear on the second page of my website the background of my page will be the font ever of my music video this is to create fluidity, I ahem seen this done on such dance music artist website such as sigala.
Part three
I will have used the some of the same characters in the polaroids that were in my music videos, the polaroids will be inspired from the dace scenes, they will be ‘behind the scenes’/ extra images of the dance scene. I have used the same logo on my website as in the start of my music video to create brand for my artist, by using it at the start of my music video. I have also used the cover of my music video as the background of the page whith my music video. This media cross convergence is to create an artist which brand is easily recognisable.
