A textual analysis of a dance music


How does Dance Music appear to represent its fanbase in its videos?

They represent there fan-base as people that want to dance as in both videos they shoot in a club as in the tiesto music video they went to Las Vegas which is a party place. When they were in Las Vegas they went to a club which had the artist tiesto as a DJ ( i'm guessing). In the sigma video they didn't go to the club but they did dance in a where house and on the beach. They also represent there fan-base as young and have freedom. This is the conveyed in the upbeat and fast pace music and how in both videos this is reflected on how  they travel too many paces in a singular day such as in the sigma one they went to a beach and then they drove there car to a warehouse. In the tiesto music video they went from a diner to a car wash to Las Vegas. 

What key ideas/ideologies are present within both? Symbolism?

Key ideas and ideologies are that are presented in both is living a carefree life. This is presented to the audience by the fast paced editing which reflects the fast pace and carefree lifestyle. This is presented in the tiesto music video through using young actors this symbolizes youth and energy, also they have less worries such as a family and keeping a long term job.

What tone is created in both music videos and how?

The tone is carefree and light hearted. This is created through this idealistic carefree lifestyle. They shoot in paces such as  tropical beaches which has connotations of holidays and relaxation. Also there is an undertone of male gaze in both videos, for example in the tiesto one the actors are two young and attractive females which are put in skimpy outfits for example at the start one of them is a waitress and is wearing a pair of very short shorts and further on in the video they are doing a car wash and are wearing skimpy outfits and are washing the car with pink washing liquid.

This video is completely different to the first two as it has no females in it but an anonymous man  walking through derelict and abandon buildings which makes it has a post zombie apocalypse to it  opposes the other two which are in idealistic or exotic places Due to this the video has a blueish and grey look to emphasize the non idealistic life the man is living. This presents the artist and the audience as alternative at it doesn't have the usual music video of young females living a carefree life but has a young man living a lonely life with many hardships.

Analysis of mad men. The scene starts with a birds eye shot of the street, they use digetic sound through sound of the cars and they use mise en scene through the old cars, this is to establish that the office is in New York. Then the camera cuts to a shot of them entering an elevator there is fast pate instrumental non digetic music  from the era to emphasize the fast paste of the business world. They use digetic sound as when they reach the floor the elevator bings. They us mise en scene as the men are all wearing suits and the one women is wearing clothes from the era. Burn the witch and un-finished symphony comparison. Unfinished symphony used their video to represent street life to raise awareness of what a lower class neighborhood in los angles looked like uninterrupted where as Burn the Witch uses characters from a popular children's television show to show part of the narrative from the movie the wicker man which is intertextuality, the two story lines of the children television show and the wicker man juxtaposes ecahother.
